About this event
Discover how Rutgers instructors can secure research funding to redesign courses with free and low-cost learning materials through the Libraries' Open and Affordable Textbooks (OAT) Program. The OAT Program provides research funding to Rutgers instructors who adopt, adapt, or create affordable learning materials, including open educational resources (OER) and open textbooks. During this session, you’ll learn whether your course is a good fit for the OAT Program, explore examples of successful projects, and gain practical ideas for developing a future proposal. We’ll showcase affordable course materials that Rutgers instructors have adopted or created and discuss how these resources can expand instructional options, align with course goals, and ensure students have access to required materials from the first day of class. Whether you are new to OER or already considering affordable course materials, this workshop will help you identify opportunities for your own courses and begin planning an OAT proposal before the next application cycle opens in early 2027. This event is part of Rutgers University Libraries' Open Access Week 2026.
